The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has announced the allocation of up to S$6m ($4.4m) for the launch of the Polytechnic Pathway Programme (PPP).聽
The programme is designed to support local polytechnic graduates in their pursuit of the Singapore Chartered Accountant Qualification (SCAQ).
This initiative aligns with the recommendations of the Accountancy Workforce Review Committee to bolster the pipeline of accountancy talent.
Under the PPP, polytechnic graduates who enrol in the SCAQ Foundation Programme after completing their diplomas will receive sponsorship for associated fees and learning support for two years.
The programme is open to all local polytechnic students, regardless of their diploma specialisation, and aims to draw interest from diverse fields such as business, IT, and design.
ISCA president Teo Ser Luck said: 鈥淎ll our diploma holders who completed the SCAQ are fully employed. This speaks volumes for both the SCAQ and the value of polytechnic education in Singapore. We are pleased to expand our SCAQ support to polytechnic graduates on their journey to become a Chartered Accountant and cultivate accountancy as a study of choice here in Singapore.鈥

By GlobalDataIt comes after the ISCA’s Accelerated Pathway Programme for university students and the recent expansion of the SCAQ to non-accountancy diploma holders.
Since this expansion in November 2023, enrolment by polytechnic graduates is said to have doubled, with more than 110 currently in the SCAQ FP, representing 11% of the total candidature.
ISCA’s strategy extends to the establishment of Campus Enterprise Hubs across six polytechnics and universities by January 2025.
These hubs will serve as collaborative spaces for students to connect with ISCA’s network of more than 520 employers and 3.6m members.
Engagement sessions will also be facilitated to help students secure internships and job opportunities.
The first Campus Enterprise Hub was inaugurated at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
In addition, November 2024 saw a partnership between ISCA and Kaplan Higher Education Academy to launch a 15-month programme for aspiring chartered accountants.聽
This expanded opportunities for those seeking the SCAQ.聽
